The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examination is a global qualification examination conducted by the International Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). The association has more than 140,000 members worldwide.

Since 1974, IIA has held the Certified Internal Auditor Qualification examination at designated locations around the world and awarded the Certified Internal Auditor Certificate and the title of “Certified Internal Auditor” to those who pass the examination. In 1998, China Internal Audit Association signed an agreement with IIA to introduce the International Certified Internal Auditor Examination held by IIA into China and achieved success.

China Institute of Internal Audit shall be responsible for the organization, leadership and coordination of the national Qualification Examination for internationally Certified Internal Auditors, liaison and coordination with the International Institute of Internal Auditors, and report to it on the examination work.

The association of Internal auditors (auditors) of the province, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government with the examination center shall be responsible for the organization, leadership and coordination of the qualification examination for international Certified internal auditors at the examination center.
